CHS SURVEY - NEW MASCOT SEARCH

10/12/2021

Search in Progress for New Name and Mascot

Efforts are well underway to decide on a new name and mascot for Cuyahoga Heights Local Schools.  “It will be a multistep process that will invite input from the entire community,” said Superintendent Tom Evans.

In October, a survey was posted to the school district’s website as well as sent to all subscribers of the weekly “Tom Talks” e-newsletter. Here is the link:

The survey invites anyone from the community to offer ideas and suggestions.

Using the results of the first survey, a second community survey will be conducted in November to whittle the recommendations for a new name and mascot down to 20 names or fewer.  Then in January, a committee composed of alumni, students, school staff, and interested community residents will convene to review the results and narrow the suggestions from 20 to five. Lora Garrett, former Cuyahoga Heights School administrator, is overseeing the committee’s work.

The committee will work to narrow the selection to two recommendations. The two selections then will be presented at the February Board of Education meeting in hopes that by March, a final selection will be made.
