TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo softball senior third baseman Dayna Denner was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week following her performance at the CSU Tournament this past weekend.

The reigning MAC Player of the Year, Denner had an outstanding opening week for Toledo, hitting .667 with three home runs and nine RBI in five games against Charleston Southern and UNC Wilmington.

In the first game against Charleston Southern on Friday, Denner hit her first home run of the season in the top of the fifth inning, bring around two runs to put Toledo up 14-4. The Rockets added four more runs that inning and capped the game with an 18-5 final score. That game, Denner tallied 4 RBIs.
In the first game against UNC Wilmington on Saturday, Denner tallied two RBIs against UNC Wilmington and she homered against CSU in the second game of the day. She had two extra-base hits in game two of Saturday's twin bill.
In the final game of the tournament against UNC Wilmington on Sunday, Denner smacked her third home run of the weekend.

She is one home run away from tying Leslie Strong (2005-08) for the top spot on the program's all-time home run leaderboard. Also, Denner's four walks moved her to the eighth-place position in Toledo's all-time career walks list with 47. She is currently tied with Brooke Gates (2009-12).
This is Denner's first MAC Player of the Week honor this season. Her performance during the opening weekend received national attention as well, as she was mentioned in this week's Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors as a selected top performance.
Denner and the Rockets will be back in action this weekend at the Blazer Classic on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 18-20 in Birmingham, Ala.
