New Lifesaving Device Received by Brooklyn Heights

At the council meeting on June 2, Dan Elenberger, UH Director EMS Service, presented Fire Chief Lasky with a LUCAS 2 Chest Compression System.

This system delivers perfectly timed, consistent and continuous chest compressions. During transport the compressions are never interrupted. The unit is used in place of manual chest compressions performed by trained responders, who are then free to attend to other areas of patient care.
The compressions generated by this device eliminate the problems which occur during extended periods of time between responders arriving on the scene and the patient’s arrival at a hospital.   Each of the four founding communities of Parma Hospital received one.
