Smoke Detector Program
Smoke Detector Program
Forgetting to change a smoke detector’s battery could cost you your life! The Brooklyn Heights Fire Department reminds you to change your smoke detector batteries each time you reset your clocks. The time changes in the fall and spring coincide with the recommended battery life in a smoke detector.
Smoke detectors are present in 92% of American homes, but nearly one-third don’t work because of worn out or missing batteries. As part of our ongoing effort to make certain that every village household has a working smoke detector, the fire department will be accepting any resident’s request to have their smoke detector batteries replaced. Most importantly, if you do not have a working smoke detector, please purchase one and we will install it for you, excluding installations for Point of Sale and Rental Inspections.
If you would like to participate in this program, please fill out the form below. We will contact you to schedule a date and time.
