STEM Career Showcase (For Students in grades 7-12 and their parents)
Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 9:30-11:30AM at Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC).
Students and parents can explore a variety of STEM careers (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) through interactive presentations, learn why companies seek STEM skills; talk to employees from leading companies and professional societies, participate in hands-on-activities and demonstrations; meet college representatives and students who will discuss STEM majors and recommend classes to take now. Students can take an online assessment to identify their skills and interests. Free event, no registration required.

Digital Animation: Girl Scout Badge Workshop (9am-12pm, $20)
-Workshop for current Girls Scouts. Through this workshop, girls will earn the Entertainment Technology Junior Agent of Change Badge. Through animating their artwork and designs, student will learn the science behind the world of entertainment

Video Game Design: Intro to Breakout Arcade Games, Grades 4-6 (9am-12pm, $20)
-Using Game Maker Pro software version 8.1, students will create their own breakout arcade style game. Students will receive a flash drive in class to take home their games.

HER Ideas in Game Design (9:30am-1:30pm, $40)
-Game Design workshop for girls only Grades 5-8. Using SCRATCH, girls will design and create their own video games. Workshops are taught by women who are technology professionals. Registration includes lunch.

Programming for Kids: Build a Webpage (9am-12pm, $30)
-Students will learn about html as they create a webpage to answer the question - who do we love more: cats or dogs! For beginners, this class learns to code using Notepad to build a simple webpage with headings and paragraphs. Students will receive programming workbook as part of class.

NEW!! Ohio’s Options Adult Diploma Program (ADP) is brought to you by the Ohio Department of Education in partnership with CVCC. This program offers career training, an industry credential, and a high school diploma to Ohio residents aged 22 and older, who have not obtained a high school diploma or GED. The program is at no cost to the students. Choose from one of the following programs available to ADP students:

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
• State Tested Nurse Aid (STNA)
• EKG Technician & Phlebotomy
• Web Design & Animation
• Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
• Graphic Design for Print and Web Production
Registration for the Adult Diploma Program is contingent upon completion of the WorkKeys test.
Participants must be Ohio residents, 22 and older, without a high school diploma or GED.
