Engineering Department

Mike is a partner and the representative from Chagrin Valley Engineering Ltd to the Village of Brooklyn Heights. He is a graduate of Ohio Northern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1992. He currently serves on the Zoning Commission in Auburn Township, is a supervising board member for the Geauga County Soil and Water District and member of the executive committee for Municipal Engineer’s of Northeast Ohio. With twenty years of experience in municipal engineering and site design, Mike provides the Village with a large area of expertise from storm sewer and storm water management to sanitary sewer and potable water supply design. He also has a vast knowledge of site design for the private sector which allows him to review proposed projects and provide the Village with insight to possible pit falls and benefits of development.

Mike is readily available to service the Village as requested from his company’s office. His responsibilities include attendance at Council Meetings, Architectural Review Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Plan Review, Village’s Compliance with the Ohio EPA’s NPDES Phase II Permitting, providing direction to the Village Administration on various infrastructure improvements, plan preparation for public infrastructure projects, project inspection for improvements within the public right of way, applying for funding to complete infrastructure projects and as the liaison between State and Local government agencies as it relates to storm, water, sanitary and roadway projects.

Village ASPHALT Program Update 9/21/22
On September 19th concrete pavement repair locations was marked for TC Construction to start saw cutting. They are planning to start the saw cutting either Thursday or Friday of this week or next Monday September 26 depending on scheduling. See Asphalt Location map.

Village CONCRETE Program Update 9/21/22
The tentative start date for the asphalt repair program is October 18th and asphalt pavement repair locations will be marked the week prior to that. See Concrete Location map.

Recent and Upcoming Projects

Lancaster Road Reconstruction / Bioretention Cells

This project was completed as part of an overall pavement rehabilitation project for Lancaster Drive, which serves as the main entryway into one of the Village's largest business areas.
The total project cost was $500,000. The Village was able to secure almost 80% of the funds through grants and 0% loans from the Ohio Public Works Commission.

Dorset, Lancaster and Mural Road Reconstruction

This project included the replacement of more than 7,000 square yards of pavement. This project was the second phase of the original Lancaster Road Replacement performed in 2011.
Through patience and determination, the Village was able to secure more than 70% of the cost of this project through grants and 0% loans. Read more HERE

South Street Water Main Replacement

This project was performed to maintain the aging infrastructure while utilizing funding from partners to maximize the Village's capital improvement fund. the 6" water main was replaced with an 8" water main, and service connections along South Street.
