|Are your kids getting older and you would like a couple of hours out of the house? Are you new to the Village? Why not visit a Women’s Service Club meeting and see what we’re all about?
The name of our club is what we do. "SERVICE". This is us in a nutshell. We do a lot for the village residents and we’re looking for new members with fresh ideas. We meet on the fourth Monday at 7:00pm in the Community Center January, February, March, May, September and October. In April and December we go out for dinner. Visit the Community Calendar for meeting dates. Dues are $6 for the year.
Our fundraising efforts throughout the year pay for a variety of projects and functions. Our club has operated the Concession Stand in the park from June thru October for many years, which allows us to fund these endeavors:
We are proud to sponsor or make donations to events that are both fun and philanthropic. Here is a list of some of our projects:
- Lunch for Santa and Helpers
- Pack Christmas Santa stockings
- Donation to St. Augustine's Hunger Center
- Community Paper Shredding Day
- Municipal Center lobby decorations
- Christmas fruit baskets for shut-ins
- Gazebo Decorations
We provide the refreshments, filled eggs and candy bags for the Easter Egg Hunt, refreshments for the Memorial Day Parade and we also sponsor Novak’s Floral arranging workshops for several holidays.
Other donations include “Project Hope”, the PTO, MSC Scholarship Fund, several of the Cuyahoga Heights Scholarships, and the CHS After Prom. We raise money to fund the Jean Notarian Scholarship through our annual Reverse Raffle.
The Scoreboard used on Diamond 2 in the park was purchased by the Women's Service Club and donated to the village. Most recently, in 2016 we donated a golf cart to be used in the park by the Brooklyn Heights Police.
