First Tee of Cleveland - Golf Program for Youth

4/26/2017

Dear Residents,

Do you have children or grandchildren who would like to swing a golf club? Looking for an economical way to introduce them to another sport? The First Tee of Cleveland is a wonderful place to start.

We are aware of success stories and references from Joe Kocab and his nephew, Jim, who even traveled to out of town events when he was in the program. Recent village participants from ages 6 to 14, boys and girls, include the families of Apathy, Galek, Lasky and Urbanic. There may be more, but talk to them about First Tee participation.

The next session starts June 5 for the summer.

To clarify, boys and girls can start as early as age 6 in the Mighty Mites. It’s only $35 per 5 week season.

Players ages 8-13 have 2 sessions per week. They can try 3 sessions for $30, go one day per week for 5 weeks for $50 or twice per week for $100. These same rates apply to 13-18 year olds.

Check out the Village Website for complete information on week long Summer Camps, Academies, LPGA Girl’s Golf, and Volunteer information.

This all takes place nearby in Newburgh Heights at the Metro Parks Washington Park Golf Course.

I highly recommend this program as it is much more than golf. It teaches our youth Nine Healthy Habits including Physical, Emotional and Community. No previous skills are required. Respect and fun are top priorities.

I would be happy to share my experiences watching my grandchildren in the program.

Have a great summer!

Mayor Mike
