NOPEC Aggregate Electric Residential & Small Business Owners

8/4/2022

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM MAYOR MIKE FOR NOPEC AGGREGATE ELECTRIC RESIDENTIAL & SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS!

I’m sure everyone has experienced higher than expected electric bills recently. This is due to a fluctuation in the market and it may last until sometime next year. Updated NOPEC electric rates were recently released, and they are higher than the rates charged by the utility. NOPEC’s current month Standard Program Price per kilowatt hour is $0.12. The utility’s price to compare is $0.06786. Many factors are causing electric rates to increase such as the timing of electricity auctions by FirstEnergy, energy supply issues, the war in Ukraine and worldwide demand.

If you are in the NOPEC Aggregate for your electric service, I suggest you call the NOPEC Customer Care Center at (855) 667-3201 to discuss your options, like I did. If you choose to change your service to your default service provider, there is no cost to you and you would be accepted back into the NOPEC Aggregate for their group rate once the market stabilizes.

Please keep in mind you should never share your utility bill or account information with anyone that contacts you unprompted and you should review the fine print very carefully before signing any contract.

The NOPEC rate for natural gas continues to be lower than Dominion and Columbia Standard Choice Offer (SCO) at this time so I am not suggesting any changes for natural gas.
